MDA’s training programmes are designed to satisfy the following objectives:
- To empower candidates to effectively use contracts as a management tool by teaching the basics of contract law and its practical application;
- To impart to candidates a working knowledge and understanding of how to practically apply the contractual mechanisms and administer Contracts successfully – executing the Contract within time, budgeted costs and satisfying quality requirements; and
- To ensure skills transfer takes place and is sustained.
To ensure maximum value is added and benefit extracted from our programmes we recommend that a course co-coordinator interact with us during the preparation phase of the programme. Through concentrated interaction with the course coordinator we identify specific weakness areas in the client’s contract administration and implementation. We then formulate a set of specific course objectives to achieve through the programme.
We then design a programme to achieve these objectives and utilize the specific weakness areas within the clients / candidates own contracting experience in the programme presentation and workbook. Our experience proves that this approach “brings the programme home” maximizing candidate participation and skills transfer.
Training programmes which we have recently developed and presented include the following:
- Understanding and managing construction contracts
- Construction contract law
- Effective use of the 1999 FIDIC conditions of contract
- Effective use of the NEC family of contracts (second and third editions)
- Conflict management and dispute resolution
- Running claims free projects
- Collaborative contracting – the move toward partnering
